Gabriel goes to Kindergarten!

Gabriel started school on Monday! He had a great first day and a great first week also. He had been anticipating going to kindergarten for days, maybe weeks. He is ready to learn more and to begin reading. His teacher, seems very nice; we are excited to get to know her and me to volunteer in his classroom. He was to wear a uniform:blue or khaki bottoms and a light or navy blue polo. We got them on the mail the week before school and he kept asking when he could wear them... well the day finally arrived and below is a photo of what I found on Sunday afternoon when I came to get him out of quiet time :
So cute! He had set out all the items in a neatly manner on top of his training table... the next morning he eagerly dressed himself with not assistance...belt included!
All ready to go!
It was a special day. Mike even arranged to be able to arrive late to work so he could be there for drop off.

Yeap, it was a family affair. Doménica was very excited too.
School is less than a mile from home. Since it was so hot last week, we rode a bike instead of walking and in the afternoon I drove but when the weather gets nicer it will be so nice to be able to walk together to school.
He goes to a charter school. Their emphasis is on academic greatness, character development and college preparedness. Saying good bye in the classroom.
We definitely missed him. The house was quiet without him but Doménica did well at playing alone and even napped at least 4 out of the 5 days. It will take some getting used to but we are happy for him, he has turned into such a big boy! A kindergartner!

Ok, this mama was choking back tears looking at your pics so I'm sure you wore those sunglasses for the same reason! I think the little girl sitting next to G in class was on Trey's tee ball team.

Oh yes! I held them in until I left him in the classroom and then the tears just flowed! It was emotional... I was glad Mike was there. It was not hard to leave him at preschool but this felt different.

That's so exciting! Pre-school didn't bring tears to my eyes tonight but I'm sure K will when it comes. I can't believe how many kids are starting K this year!

The first photo on this post of Gabriel just captured his excitement and how big he has gotten! So happy that he was so ready to go, but must have been a tough one for the Mama. Glad Mike was there with ya.
