A trip down memory lane: a list of firsts

DSCN2515

Today we are celebrating 10 years of marriage and I am pleased to report that I still feel the same way I felt last year when I wrote this post for you. This year I just want to remember so I will do my best to recall all of our firsts…

We first met: on Sunday May 9th of 1999, it was mother’s day, at Trinity Bible Church.

Our first outing: it was not a date and it was lunch at Schlotsky’s deli, same day we met.

Our first kiss: cannot remember the date but it was sometime in June, roughly 4 weeks after we met.

Our first date: lunch at Garcia’s the day after our first kiss.

The first gift I gave you: a very nice watch, it was your graduation present.

The first gift you gave me: a journal and sushi dinner at Kona Grill, it was my birthday.

Our first road trip: A day trip to Saguaro Lake

Our first trip together: Our honeymoon to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo in Mexico.

The first place we lived together: the 2 bedroom apartment in Awhatukee.

Our first car (bought together): a Nissan Frontier truck, which also happens to be our first debt together.

Our first camping trip: labor day of 2000 at the Mogollon Rim.

Our first home: the one of 20th St, we moved in in June 2001 and we lived there for 6 years.

Our first loss (more mine than yours) : my dog Marx, who run away and was never found.

Our first cruise : to the Galapagos Islands in 2002

Our first trip to Europe: March 2003, visited Italy, France and Spain.

Our first dog together: Zion, the black lab mix.

Our first positive pregnancy test: shortly after our return from Europe in 2003. Also our biggest loss, because baby Terri was never born.

Our first born child: Gabriel, born in August 2004. And this one also counts as our first hospital visit, our first sleepless night, and a whole set of firsts that we will cherish forever.

Our first vacation apart: in 2006 when I went to London to see Melissa and you and Gabriel went to Colorado to stay with your brother.

Our first trip North of the border: Vancouver in 2006

Our first time away without the kids : 36 hours for my 34th birthday.

And that is all that can recall now… I know there are probably many more that I have forgotten and many more still to come but I am so grateful that the Lord is still doing great things and that we continue to be filled with joy!

I love you and by the grace of God always will. Happy 10th Anniversary!
