Gators, princesses and white, sandy beaches...

I can't recall the last time we took a summer vacation in the summer! Because if Mike's schedule, we usually take vacation in the Spring or Fall. This year however, Greatgrandma's 85th birthday warranted a change to our regularly scheduled vacation... so we jumped on a plane and off to Florida we went.

We spent four wonderful days reuniting and meeting family members from California, Connecticut and Florida as we celebrated Greatgrandma's birthday. First we a reception at the church hall and then with a family party by the river. I will confess I was weary of the heat and the humidity, the bugs and all the unknowns... afterall, aside from a short trip to Disneyworld when I was 12, I had never really experienced Florida - yet, I fell in love with the luscious, green vegetation, the crystal clear rivers and what shall I say of the white, sandy beaches and warm waters in Saint Augustine!

After the family reunion, we drove to Orlando for two jam-packed days at Disney and finally we drive north to Saint Augustine where we met the Whetherbees, whom we had not seen since their move to North Carolina and whose kids, Taylor and Spencer, we had never met.
Truly I say, I cannot wait to go back. Pictures of Disneyworld are on this Facebook link and of the family reunion are on my Facebook Profile.
