Flagstaff's Top Five

We love going to Flagstaff every summer. Every time we go, we do the same activities... our all time favorites. This time we added two new favorites. Below, our top five in photographs!
#5 - Picnic at Schultz Tank
Of course, if you are by the tank, you MUST throw rocks...

Giving daddy some love...

Love the mountain views... we will be back to hike Humphreys this year, it is a date!

# 4 Biking down Schultz Pass
# 3 Hiking the Kachina trail

More daddy love...
#2 Geocheing (our first time cacheing in Flag)
# 1 Hiking the Lava River Cave (this is a new addition to our top 5)
All four of us at the entrance of the cave. It was a mile long tunnel dug by a lava river from long, long ago. It was awesome in there. Pitch dark! I thought the kids might get scared but they loved it and Gabriel hiked that mile as if he'd been doing it all his life. He was such a champ!
Mike and Doménica getting out of the cave.

Gabriel pointing out the quasi-concussion Mike got while inside the cave... It is pitch dark in there and the ceiling changes heights all the time, even with a head lamp and flashlight in hand he didn't notice a sudden change in height. He hit his head so hard he chipped a tooth, yikes! Luckily Doménica sits in the pack much lower than Mike's head.
Gabriel after he got out of the cave... it was a chilly weekend up there :o)

Wow, such the active family - that is great and it looks like lots of fun. Mike's head, on the other hand, does not look like fun...ouch.
