It is not a surprise to anyone that I am not a football fan. I suppose not having grown up with it has much to do with it but it also does not help that hard as I Mike has tried to help me understand it, I just don’t get it! It seems like a bunch of grown men trying to kill one another…
Anyway, the point of this post is not really about me but Gabriel. This past season he really got into football and Mike started to teach him the rules and let him watch the games. Incredibly enough, he sat through entire games, got excited about them and acquired an entire new inventory of words that mean nothing to me… I heard pick, punt, pass, fumble… and I only shook my head as it seemed I don’t really speak English. As the season progressed, Gabriel was always cheering for Tim Hightower, or Timmy as he calls him.
One afternoon during quiet time, he colored the drawing above … Gabriel is not the best artist, let’s face it, his stuff is pretty par with any 5 year old but he must have put a lot of heart on this one because it is truly his best one. When he first brought it to me it was only the football player but before he handed it to me, he took a second look and run back to his room then came back and said – I had to go back mami because I forgot Timmy has long hair. He had also added the Cardinal bird at the top… So there. The Cardinals have a new fan!

Awesome! I can't believe he drew that! I had to take a close look because it looks like a pic he colored from a coloring book! Go Cards!!!!!

Welcome back to my blog, thought you'd forgotten me!
I know what you mean about not understanding football. I'm getting it now, but it's taken me a couple of years. I can tell you any baseball rule though. That was a great drawing by Gabriel!
I can't believe that he drew that. Trust me - my five year old could not draw anything that resembles that picture. Impressive. Smart cookie that Gabriel!
