In the past years we have traditionally adopted a needy family to give Christmas presents to but this year we are doing something a little bit different. The Sojourner Center is a transitional home for victims and survivors of domestic violence. They house about 200 women and their children so this year we decided to dedicate a little time and resources toward making the holidays a bit brighter for these women, well, at least some of them (the first 25 to sign up). Although this will not be within the confinements of my comfort zone, I am very excited about visiting one of the shelters to spend time with 25 of these women and helping them make holiday cards.
As you would expect this center operates mainly on donations and they have many needs. Their list is long but they have some priority items that we are going to work on collecting so we can bring them when we visit. These priority items are:
Shampoo
Conditioner
Deodorant
Lotion
Lotion
Blankets
Baby Wipes
Size 5, 6 Diapers
Baby Wipes
Size 5, 6 Diapers
Bath Towels
Twin Size Blankets
Twin Size Blankets
Tampons and Sanitary napkins
Pillows
Stamps (form amiling the holiday cards we will be making)
There is also a more complete list of items that thy could use but those above are the MOST needed. If you happen to be looking for ways to give and have interest in helping with this please contact me before December 20th.

We did some work with homeless women in nursing school and I can promise you that you will find it to be better than you imagined (you mentioned being out of your comfort zone). For the donations, can it be gently used or half used packages of things?
Yes, I second Amy's question. I have lots of baby blankets and burp cloths I've been waiting to get rid of.
Yes, gently used items are great... specially for linens and towels. For toiletries, I would say it depends on what it is. If it is lotion yes, but deodorant no... thank you guys.
