I am a big girl now!

A few weeks back I started observing Doménica show signs of potty readiness and I chose to ignore those signs until mid-summer. In August, Gabriel would be in school all day and I could focus on helping her say good-bye to diapers. However, as it seems commonplace with my children, when they are ready, they are ready!

Doménica woke up dry on a Monday morning and said - Mami, I want to go pee-pee in the potty. I said sure and figured nothing would happen... oh but it did! She went and when I tried to put a diaper, she said - No Mami, no diaper. I go pee-pee in the potty like "Mano"... And that was that! About half way through the second week, there was one day where she had 3-4 accidents in a row and I was ready to put a diaper back on but we pressed on and we are now approaching 4 weeks of her being diaper-free! During the first days she would strip completely before sitting in the potty but she then started keeping her clothes . We also used her doll to show her how it is done.
She has now "graduated" onto the toilet seat and is obviously proud of her accomplishment! Since she started potty training she wants nothing to do with baby stuff and so she also gave up bibs, her booster seat, etc. I foresee a big girl bed in her near future... now if I could only do away with that pesky pacifier!

Wow that is great! Parker is actually begging to be potty trained but I just don't think he is as ready as he thinks he is! I'm convinced boys do better if you wait until they are three but I don't know if I will hold Parker out that long or not??

Mike just read my blog post and wishes that I clarify that the first time she ever went pee-pee in the potty was for HIM on the Sunday night when he first brought the potty chair home. That was approximately a week or two before the aforementioned day.

Wow - no more baby anymore. It has got to be REALLY nice to have no more diapers!!! I am jealous, but I have many more years of diapers!

Wow, that's exciting! Ryan is well on his way, too, and I'm SURE Parker would be a breeze if his mommy would let him! ;) The second seems easier...fingers crossed.

I am nowhere near that - ready or not. Baby is on her way so diapers and passy's are all staying. Good job Domenica!!!

So cute. And what a big girl! Sam's nowhere close yet. He likes to sit on the potty and say, "help mommy". Sorry buddy, that's one thing I just can't help you do.

Ps. It'd be so fun to meet up with you guys somewhere this summer...
